In its sixth decade as a valued member of the international petroleum industry, Lubri-Loy — which is a blend of the words lubricant and alloy — distributes an array of products in more than 35 countries on five continents. Industries that Lubri-Loy serves include manufacturing, metal fabrication, agriculture, automotive, transportation, marine, and healthcare.

A celebrated example of "necessity being the mother of invention," Lubri-Loy's innovative roots date to a recreational pilot who wanted to go a little farther, a little longer. In the late 1940s, a St. Louis, Mo. (USA), businessman named Gene Brenfleck enjoyed flying his private aircraft from the plains of the Midwest to the scenic settings of Central America, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. A chemist friend was a frequent travel companion, and the two longed to find ways to extend their stay in the air. Fueled by this quest, a lubricant called Lubri-Loy Engine Additive was born. It proved so effective in extending longevity and air miles that Lubri-Loy was soon the first product of its kind to receive Federal Aviation Administration approval for use on all private aircraft. And since this time, the product has logged thousands of private domestic and international flight hours.

With Mr. Brenfleck at the controls, the Lubri-Loy network quickly expanded, gaining worldwide recognition from Central America and South America to the diamond mines of South Africa, and from the automotive hotbed of Italy to the ministry of agriculture in Japan.

In May of 1984, Mr. Brenfleck sold Lubri-Loy to E.D. "Ted" Klarich, who has a background in metallurgy and long-running associations with the major oil companies. Under Mr. Klarich's leadership, Lubri-Loy developed Revive, an oil fortifier that has become the company's signature product.

Lubri-Loy gained its third chief executive officer in 55 years when David L. Graham purchased the company in 2002.
